The Building Blocks of a Perfect Website Experience

Great websites aren't great because of one big decision. They're great because of a thousand small ones. Here's the design checklist we use at Digital Roar to ensure every project feels premium.

Typography Sets the Tone

We spend more time on typography than any other design element. The right typeface, weight, line-height, and spacing can make a $5K site feel like a $50K one. Our go-to stack: Outfit for display, Inter for body — both geometrically clean, both extremely legible at every size.

The rule: never use more than 2 typefaces. If you need visual variety, change weight, size, or color — not the font.

Whitespace is Not Empty Space

Whitespace is the most undervalued tool in design. It creates hierarchy, focuses attention, and makes content feel luxurious rather than cramped. Every section on a Digital Roar site has at least 80px of vertical padding. Most have 120px.

If your content feels cluttered, the answer is almost never "make it smaller." It's "give it more room to breathe."

Micro-Interactions Create Emotion

A button that subtly lifts on hover. A card that tilts toward your cursor. Text that reveals word by word as you scroll. These details aren't decorative — they're functional. They tell the user "this thing is interactive" without needing a label.

Our rule: every interactive element should respond to the user within 50ms. If it doesn't move, the user doesn't know it's alive.

Scroll Physics Matter

The difference between a jerky scroll and a butter-smooth one is the difference between a $20 watch and a Rolex. We use Lenis for smooth scrolling, GSAP for scroll-triggered animations, and custom easing curves on every transition. The scroll should feel like it has weight and momentum.

Color as a System, Not a Palette

We don't pick colors — we build color systems. A primary background, a secondary surface, three levels of text opacity, one accent color, and a border tone. That's it. Consistency beats creativity when it comes to color.
